Queering Dreams at Allied Media Conference 2022
Are attending AMC 2022? We're facilitating A Space for Dreaming Abolition on Friday, July 1 at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Please join us.
Queering Dreams is thrilled to announce that Crystal Mason, Jason Wyman / Queerly Complex, and Kapi’olani Lee are facilitating A Space for Dreaming Abolition at Allied Media Conference tomorrow, July 1, 2022, at 11am PT / 2pm ET.
In November 2021, Crystal, Jason, Kapi’olani, and Keyssh gathered Sheila McKinney, Shania Morris, Ashara Ekundayo, Sauda Morris, Michael Crenshaw, and Kafi-Ayanna Allah in deep conversation about what abolition and freedom means to us. This guided conversation became the basis for another workshop that Crystal and Jason facilitated with at the ToP (Technology of Participation) Network Conference in March 2022. Now, we bring our refined A Space for Dreaming Abolition praxis to the AMC community as a way to continue seeding and growing pathways towards abolition and freedom.
This past month, we, Crystal Mason and Jason Wyman / Queerly Complex, have been dreaming in community with others in Richmond, VA, San Francisco, CA, and online. Crystal created a customized dreaming session for teens at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art to support them in creating their own workshop. Crystal and Jason worked with the San Francisco Opera to offer a customized Space for Dreaming Equity and Belonging as part of their professional development conference for Bay Area educators. And we are dreaming later today, June 30, 2022, with artists across North America that are a part of Queering Dreams’ Immigrant Artist Network Virtual Salons.
One thing we are continuing to discover is just how powerful it is to dream in community with others. AND! People of all ages, identities, backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs need, want, and desire more space to dream.
If you want, need, or desire, some Space for Dreaming, please fill out this short form, and we will schedule a time to chat about your dreams.
Finally, Queering Dreams is taking a short rest this summer so we can reorganize and rejuvenate ourselves for the Fall. We will be back with some more streamlined services, a website, and new offerings from our Immigrant Artist Network and Queer Art School. There’s a lot in the works, and we need a bit of time to get it all sorted.
Thank you all for being such amazing and fabulous supporters of Queering Dreams.
Hi 👋🏽 I just watched the lesbian fashion documentary on Kanopy! Thank you Crystal for your activism. I’m happy to be in the community.
