Let’s Have a QiQi! Join us for a Queer Art School open house/info session!
School has never been so queer!
Meet the founding co-creators and find out how you can become a part of this radical experiment in building structures we need and want for the futures we desire. Come to our QiQi and learn how you can join our inaugural group of Artist Fellows!
This event is one of two QiQis this spring and will feature key information for our Queering Artist Narratives offering this summer (starting July 2023) and fellowship program. All interested *MUST ATTEND* at least *ONE* of the two spring QiQis for your application to be considered. Applications open April 25th and close May 31st.
Queer Art School was developed by the volunteer efforts of Crystal Mason, Juan Carlos Escobedo, Jason Wyman, Trayvon Smith, Midori, and blkcowrie. We are fiscally sponsored under the name Queering Dreams by Independent Arts & Media.
We are committed to raising $12,000 for our first offering, Queering Artist Narrative Boot Camp. The $12,000 go to:
Pay 5 Artist Fellows Stipends ($1000 / Fellow) who are Black, Indigenous, brown, immigrant, rural, trans, gender non-specific, disabled, displaced, youth, or elder artist who would not otherwise be able to attend Queering Artist Narrative Boot Camp.
Pay 5 Founding Fellows Stipends ($1000 / Fellow) to facilitate Queering Artist Narratives.
Have $2000 on hand for incidental costs including Zoom, materials and supplies, transription services, and additional Artist Stipdens as needed.
Queer Art School embraces the core tenets of the Solidarity Economy. Our budget for Queering Artist Narratives Boot Camp prioritizes first paying low-income or poor artists for their involvement in Boot Camp. Second, we will pay the Founding Fellows for their labor. Finally, we use additional funds to pay for incidental costs.
Queer Art School is a program of Queering Dreams, which is fiscally sponsored by Independent Arts & Media.
